Qualcomm, which leads mobile chipset technology worldwide, has launched the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 to take over from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, which was used in plenty of mid-range phones. This processor has an architecture of 1+3+4 and includes a 2.8GHz ARM Cortex-A720 prime core, three 2.4GHz Cortex-A720 performance cores, and four 1.84GHz Cortex-A520 efficiency cores.
The new Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 comes with a CPU that is 27% faster than its predecessor and features improved AI to back Gen AI assistants and large language models, even for in-series stable diffusion image generation. The Snapdragon chipset with Elite Gaming offers an AI boost of 65% and a GPU boost of 30% for a better gaming experience.
For photography and videography, the chipset has a triple ISP with a support for camera sensors up to 200 megapixels. Cameras on the device support Real-time 4K60 Video Super Resolution for detailed zoomed shots, as well as AI-powered autofocus, auto white balance, auto-exposure, and hardware stabilization that made their debut in the Snapdragon 7 series. With these advancements, mid-range smartphones are now even better.

Like Qualcomm’s top chips, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 uses Aqstic Hi-Fi DAC and XPAN technology to give you excellent audio and convenient wireless earbuds access, even between different floors.
The Honor 400, launching this month, will be the first device to use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, while Vivo is said to bring out another device with the same chipset. The launch reflects the rising demand in Asian countries like India and Vietnam for reasonably priced and excellent smartphones. With Qualcomm’s leadership, the region continues to give importance in digital technology, showing up in India’s “Make in India” initiative and Vietnam’s trade deals, though export challenges have appeared as a result of recent U.S. tariffs.
